The first that I noticed was the strong vanilla scent. I can smell it right after tearing the package. It took a while before it wore off a bit. The container is a thick, soft pressed tube with a small nozzle so it's less likely to dispose more than what you need during application. Although I cannot say the same if you would just toss it in your kit when you bring it with you.
The formula is creamy and sticky during application so I prefer to mix it with a little moisturizer to blend it easily. The product on its own gives light coverage so you might need to conceal blemishes and put at least two coats for better coverage. It doesn't last that long so you may need to retouch every 3-4 hours.
As for the oil controlling effect, it does keep my face less oily but not really oil free. So to keep your make-up from getting cakey, you still need to pat your face with tissue before you retouch.
